The change in power plant made the Ace a staple on the track, Ace Bristols ran successfully at Le Mans from 1957 to 1962 by various entrants, best placing at 7th Place Overall in 1959 in the hands of Ken Rudd and John Turner. However, it was on a domestic club level where Ace Bristols earned their reputation as supreme racing machines.

Instead, he chose to replicate, in obsessive detail, an AC Ace, the elegant, British-built roadster that started it all. In fact, he built two.
